When Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, its brain cells undergo a structural transformation. It is said that this transformation is to blame for this Pokémon's wildly violent nature.

In a lot of ways, this site is the natural evolution of my struggles with making a Pokémon site that satisfied me. My interest in Pokémon has always been about the video games, but with sites like Bulbapedia around, there's only so much I can talk about on a fansite for an individual Pokémon. While I had wanted to make a site for Gyarados for a long time, I just didn't know what to say about it.

That's when I got the idea of structuring it as a trainer log. For better or for worse, I've trained a lot of Gyarados. And let me tell you, raising Magikarp to level 20 is not a fun task. No matter how much the Pokémon game series has evolved over time, it's still a drag. But when you get that Gyarados — well, it makes it all worth it, doesn't it?

This site, then, is as much about my own history as a Pokémon trainer as it is about Gyarados itself, and should be read in order.
